Back to School...Just around the corner

Posted: August 11, 2020

It's that time of the year (dun, dun, dun)..."Back to School"

As we are all aware, this back to school will be unlike any other.  I want to reinforce that DLMS is commited to health and safety of your children first and foremost.  Each school is responsibe to have a COVID 19 operational plan that is available to the public.  At the request of EECD, Dr. Losier Middle School will have our plan available on our website for the public on September 3rd. Please click on this link - (http://drlosier.nbed.nb.ca/schooldoc/eecd-return-school-plan) to find the EECD Return to School Plan that is outlined by the government.

In June, with the report card, we sent home a school supplies list that your child would require.  A link to that document can be found here - http://drlosier.nbed.nb.ca/sites/drlosier.nbed.nb.ca/files/schooldocs/sc...

In addition to these materials, students at DLMS will be required to have a community mask.  The details of when students need to wear the mask will be well explained to the public in the COVID 19 operational plan and via a voice mail to families prior to the start of school.

On another note, we are excited to announce that DLMS has been granted "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) status that will allow studenta to bring and use their own personal computers, chromebooks, and tablets using the NBED intranet network.  All students will recieve inservice on the program and additional information for parents will be available in the coming weeks.  To be clear, we do not require families to provide a computer.  This program only exists for students who already have their own device and want to use it at school.

Finally, when do students come back?  Tuesday, September 8th is our WEB day that is dedicated to Grade 6 students only.  Wednesday - Friday of that week will be a staggered re-entry for students.  During the Week of August 31, a specific calendar for each grade will be communicated with families so students show up on the right days.  But for now, we wanted you to know that all students will not be in the school at the same time during the first week.  Monday, September 14th will be the first full day for all students.
