Our social media team has been fielding questions regarding the staggered entry for students on the first week of classes. Below is the outline:
- Tuesday, September 8th is our WEB day that is dedicated to Grade 6 students and the WEB leaders.
- Wednesday, September 9th - all grade 8 students
- Thursday, September 10th - all grade 7 students
- Friday, September 11th - all grade 6 students
If families have opted out of bussing for the year, they are responsible to transport their student, otherwise the bus will be along to pick up students. Students need to be aware that on the bus they are required to wear a mask and sit alone. Now more than ever, it's important that they follow the directions of the bus driver. Doors open for students who walk or are dropped off between 7:50 and 8:30. When students enter the buidling they are required to wear a mask and they will be entered into their classroom bubbles upon entry.
WEB day is an amazing program that ensures students fell comfortable at their new school and begin their journey to strengthening their relationships and building resilience. Lunch is provided on WEB day. On each of the grade level days the focus will be on establishing our "new normal" routines and protocols as well as ensuring that students re-adjust to school as we focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Students can bring their school supplies with them on their grade level day. We will provide ample time that day to sort their supplies in their classroom bins and to get to use their locker to store their belongings.
If students are planing on bringing their own device (BYOD) they do not need them on the first week. Monday, September 14th will be the first full day for all students. We will only begin to log into computers and begin our BYOD and Virtual Learning tranining our second week.
Our cafeteria service will begin on Monday, September 21st. For two weeks prior we ask that students bring a bagged lunch as they eat in the cafeteria. Please note that we will not be offering breakfast nor break canteen for the first week but we do hope to have things up and running ASAP. We will communicate when these services are ready via our social media and voicemails.
We have had to adjust our bell schedule to accomodate COVID 19 operation plans:
- 7:50-8:30 - Walker and Drop-off - Bus students should have a similar time and place to get picked up.
- 11:50-1:16 will be our lunch time. Classroom bubbles we eat together in the cafeteria and we will be eating in 4 different shifts. We will be offering some Leisure Time in this block for students to stretch out. Studetns will remain in their classroom groups.
- 2:55 is the time when walkers can leave and student being picked up will be dismissed
- Bus students begin to be dismissed at 3:05 depending on the arrival of their bus.
We ask that families understand that with the restrictions to number of students on a bus, drop off and pick up times may be impacted.
