Dear Friends

I hope that you all had a wonderful long weekend. Here is your home learning opportunities for the week.

Math- Dreambox should be your go-to for Math. If you are unable to log in give me a shout or try the problem of the week. I have noticed in the last week some of you have not logged on. Perhaps you have been busy. Try to make up the time this week.

A new problem of the week has been uploaded and the answer for last weeks has been included. Send me your answers if you like. I'd love to see how you made out.

For no-tech options how about a game of cards: Close Call- Start with a complete deck of cards, Ace = 1, Joker = 0, and all tens and other face cards are removed. Shuffle the deck and deal each player 6 cardsPlayers then select 4 of the cards to create two 2-digit numbers. The object is to create two numbers that when added together come as close to 100 as possible, without going over.

For example, if I selected the cards 2,3,4, and 5. I was then able to create the numbers 53 and 42, which when added together total 95.

The player with the total closest to 100 wins the round and 1 point. In the event of a tie, each player receives a point. After playing 5 rounds, the player with the most points wins. This is a great game for the whole family.

Science- The new ASD-N STEM flyer has been uploaded. Your challenge this week is to observe habitats. You do not have to go far to check this out. Go out on your lawn and get up close to nature. What do you see? There are lots of things, just take a look.

Unfortunately my bird website finished giving us new information as of last week. All the work is still there if you wish to go back and check it out. I thought that since the weather is supposed to be nice this week, we could try and make a sundial outside. Go to https://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Sundial for three different options to make a sundial. Take some pictures of your results and share them with us.

Remember science is fun and in everything we do. Have fun and share with us, either to my email or our Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/stem.squire.3

Have a great week friends.
