International School Library Month A book is to the mind what exercise is to the body!   The forerunner of International School Library Month (ISLM) was International School Library Day (ISLD),which was proclaimed by the then IASL President Dr. Blanche Woolls in1999 in order to celebrate the importance of school libraries. In 2008,the time was extended to one month to allow school libraries around theworld to choose a day (or more) in October that best fits their specificsituations.International School Library Month is intended to celebrate schoollibraries. It is a time to showcase what school libraries have done andcan do for the students. It is a time to bring further attention toschool libraries. ISLM is a time to create awareness of the achievementsand potential of school libraries. This year's theme is "Diversity, Challenge, Resilience: SchoolLibraries Have it All". Each of us may interpret the theme in ourown way, but it is meant to show that school libraries cater for alltypes of students, subject areas, learning styles, etc..Visit the IASL website, School Libraries Online, at:         http://www.iasl-online.org
