Keep Those Responses Coming!

Posted: May 12, 2020

Hi everyone,

I hope that you are doing well. I enjoyed reading your responses! Since there was so much interest, I am ordering the book, Harpoon of the Hunter by Markoosie Patsauq.  You may borrow it in the fall.

Assignment One:  Read “Homegrown Soccer Star”.  currents4Kids.com

Assignment Two:  Do the “On-the-lines” and “Between-the-lines” online quizzes. Class average was 80% last week. Keep up the great work!  I like going back and checking my answers to make sure that I understood the question.

Assignment Three: Under STUDENT RESPONSE, choose a questions and write a short paragraph in response. Enter your response in the space and submit by clicking on REVIEW.  If you do not have time to finish, click on DRAFT and finish it later.   I may send it back to you to make punctuation changes if needed. J

HOW TO AVOID LOSING YOUR WORK: Usually when typing on a website, I type it up in a Word document first. I run spell check and then paste it into the website. When using Word, my work is automatically saved, so I do not lose it.   There is also a spellcheck built into the response box.

INDIVIDUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING: Click on FIND OUT MORE. Teachers were recommended to pass on a link related to immigration since Phonzy, the soccer star, immigrated to Canada from Ghana.  https://pier21.ca/museum-from-home Check out the link to Pier 21, Canadian Museum of Immigration in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Remember to keep reading your novel daily. I am planning a book chat with our class next week. I can’t wait to chat with you!

In preparation for our book chat/Skype conference, consider your responses to the following questions:

1)     What is your favourite part so far, and why?

2)     Which character would you be friends with, and why?

Have a great week! Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or concern.
