Looking for Inspiration? Try this! #Do What You Can

Posted: April 6, 2020

Good afternoon,

We are beginning our fourth week of sheltering at home.  I have a list of things that I would like to learn about, projects that I have put off until I have some free time and a part-time job checking in on family and friends through calls, SKYPE and ZOOM. Honestly, just because I have all kinds of time, does not mean I feel inspired all the time. Some days I am “waiting for inspiration to hit me.”  (See image gallery)

One thing that I came across that has inspired me is Bon Jovi’s request to help him write a song. Have you seen it?  #Do What You Can   He is wondering how people are really coping during these difficult times, and encouraging them to write about their thoughts and feelings.  It seems like an appropriate journal entry for wellness or writing activity for English!

As he explains in his 3-minute video, you can send in your poetry, and he might choose to sing it live. Or you can play it with him thanks to technology.  Check out some examples out on YouTube for inspiration. I linked it under my webpages.

I hope this song inspires you to express your feelings in writing or song or even art. I challenge you to write a verse for English, or at the very least write a journal entry about how our current situation is affecting your thoughts, daily life, and altered plans. When you are done, please forward it to my email or message me on Facebook.

I will post mine to my teacher page, too.  I would love to write with my teenage heartthrob!

Can’t wait to see what you come up with,

Mrs. Frost
