Everyone here at Dr. Losier is very excited to be kicking off a new year. We will be welcoming our Grade 6's back on Tuesday, September 7. Our WEB Crew leaders have been hard at work preparing great activities to get the year started for our new students. Our WEB Day last year was tremendous fun and got everyone excited to be here at DLMS. This year looks like it is going to be every bit as successful. Once again we have a super group of grade eight students ready to make all our new students sure that Dr. Losier is a place Where Everyone Belongs.
Mr. Richard gave a wonderful speech in honor of Moriah Dr. Losier' s Turnaround Award winner. Moriah has been an exemplary student this year. She has emerged as true leader and a fine role model.
Distrist 16 Honors StudentsEvery year teachers in the district have the opportunity to discuss which students they believe have grown the most- this can be academic, social, or emotional growth. It is always a pleasure for teachers to come together to discuss the gains made by the various students in their care and each year we are pleased to be able to offer one of the many deserving students the award for having shown the most growth. This year once again we honored those students at an event sponsored by District 16. Congratulations to all those students honored this year.
Starting in April DLMS Students will be video recording our morning announcements and posting them to our school page. This is a great way for parents and others to keep up with the many events and activities that happen here. We have a great group of students in the Audio-Visual club and they are really looking forward to this new venture.
Students at all grade levels will be competing in sports events or cheering for competitors tomorrow morning. Students are reminded to dress appropriately for their events. If they will be on the ice tomorrow they need skates, helmets, and gloves or mitts.
For those who are cheering on their classmates- remember to dress for being outside.
Science Fair projects are the next "big" thing. Following March Break each Science teacher will be asking their students to develop a science project for school competition on March 19. 2010. The winner of the school based competitions will go on to the District Science Fair on March 25.
Remember to start planning early for the best possible project.
