French PIF students,
Allo! Vous me manquez! (I miss you all!)
Now that you are getting used to learning from home, you may want to work on your French. First of all, I suggest that you use Duolingo.com to keep up your speaking and listening skills. Many of you used this last year with success.
Secondly, you can watch one of your favorite shows on Netflix in French. CBC has many French kids shows, too. I would start with a show that you are very familiar with so you understand what is happening. To begin, you may listen to it in French audio and French subtitles to hear the beautiful language and see the words. Next, I suggest that you try this for a short while so as not to be frustrated. Maybe 10-15 minutes, and then increase over time. Watch that segment a few times. You do not need to understand every word, to understand. Use the visual cues and tone of the characters. Listening to French can be difficult in this context, but do not give up. It does get easier with practice. It worked for me when studying French!
Thirdly, if you want to increase your learning, try to keep a list of new words (2-5) each time that you watch a show.
I cannot wait to see what you are watching and learning this week! Contact me if you want to discuss your work and/or ask questions at tanya.frost@nbed.nb.ca
Bonne semaine! Soyez sauf! Have a great week! Stay safe!
