Came across this visual today posted by 99.3 The River and thought it was a good summary for how we can easily help the environment.  You'll notice lots of this stuff we've discussed this year in Science class too! Happy Earth Day!

Earth Week - With the world moving a bit slower these days, are there things about the world we live in that you've had the time to appreciate more now that we are home? Check out this video to give you some insight in to what scientists appreciate most about our planet, it's pretty interesting to hear their thoughts. https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/1271511/Earth-Day-2020-what-is-Earth-Day-why-celebrate-50-anniversary

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day,

What is under the ice?

How cool is this? I thought it would be just smooth underneath!

Posted: April 15, 2020

The Ice is going out on our beautiful Miramichi River!

As we anxiously await the ice to finally break apart and open up our rivers, it's a sign of summer is on it's way. Something Miramichiers look forward to, and now more than ever, we are craving better weather to brighten our days. Although we don't rely on the ice to survive here, this Alaskan community does. Check out the following video.

Points to think about while watching the short clip:

Would you relocate your family to start new in a different place altogether, although it would be a big change, it would be longer lasting territory? What would be some of your hesitations?

If they are to start fresh and create a new community, what would be some things you think they would like to have in their community?

Besides relocating, can you think of any other solutions for the residents in that community?

Although we have the login information for Dreambox, there seems to be an issue with them working properly. As soon as the issue is resolved, I will reply those of you who have already emailed me to get that information. Thanking you for your patience.

A big BONJOUR to all my kiddos! Oh how I wish we were talking in person. I hope everyone is staying safe, taking the time to try new things that are good for the soul, maybe even finding a new hobby or talent! I also want to give a shout out of sincere appreciation to all the frontline workers, especially those directly tied to our Amazing Dr. Losier Knights Family. THANK YOU all for your hard work!!!!

As we navigate this new world of Learning from Home, I want you all to know that this is all NEW to each one of us, including myself. It will take some time to get used to but I'm hoping that with regular practice from all of us, that this all becomes much easier to navigate in the coming weeks. As of right now, you have some time to navigate these teacher sites, and “visit” all your familiar faces that I know you all miss so much.

DLMS has decided to use the online Math platform: DreamBox for continued Math learning. Students will need a specific username and password to access their individual profiles. These credentials are provided to us by an outside source and should be available this week. To receive your login information, please email me at Lindsay.Turner@nbed.nb.ca and I will forward your child’s login information as soon as it becomes available. I will also post a link to the DreamBox login page with instructions in a separate post. Hang tight as we should be starting in the coming days!

I know we tend to give you all a hard time for the over use of cell phones and technology use, and how ironic it is that we are now so appreciative for these tools, to keep us connected in this time of “self-isolation”. I came across this video today and thought it was pretty interesting. It’s just a few minutes long but it’s so cool how it explains exactly how your text message to your friend gets sent through the air, directly to their phone. Pretty neat stuff, check it out here: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/the-physics-behind-texting/

Thanking you all in advance for your patience as we get the ball rolling and will be back on here soon,

Mme Turner
