Grade 6 classes will be participating in the Shoeboxes for Soldiers campaign where we collect items and assemble care packages for Canadian Forces personnel overseas during the holiday season. Participation is voluntary, please see attached sheet for further explanantion and a list of preferred items. The dates have chnaged this year. Friday Nov 4th students wearing RED will be walking to NBCC to take a group picture and the shoe boxes are due Wed Nov 9th

Thank you for your support.

In class, we will be creating bilingual holiday cards to include in the shoe boxes.

We have been studying Biotic/Abiotic elements, Environmental Interactions and Biomes over the past week as part of our Components of an Ecosystem unit. Students have voted to take a test instead of a produce a culminating project as a summative assessment of the semester. The test will be Friday Nov 4. We will be reviewing next week.

We continue to work in our L'Automne unit. We have been focused on an informative text over the past couple of weeks, as well as speaking points about the season. Students are now being evaluated in reading and speaking.

As we continue to work on our Diversity of Life unit, we have been studying biotic and abiotic elements and how organisms survive in their envronments. Students are now working on an adaptation project in which they will design an animal with specific adaptations for a unique environment.

All of my Health classes are working on Safety posters or presentations on topics of their choice in class. They will begin presenting next week.

Due to poor weather forecasted for next week we have cancelled our field trip Monday June 6th. We will reschedule if possible and send that information home with students when available.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are going to the Irving Nature Park in Bouctouche for our year end field trip Monday June 6th. We will be leaving first thing in the morning and returning in time for afternoon buses home. There is no charge for students however they must bring their own lunches, snacks and water bottles. There is a canteen on site if you would like to send money with your child. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and wears walking shoes, and sunscreen. Dr. Losier dress code applies on all school trips. Students are permitted to bring electronic devices; cameras, cellphones, IPods etc. at their own risk, as we do not assume any responsibility for lost or broken items.

Students have begun researching a Space object of their choice and are required to build a model of the object. These models are to be completed at home for next week. Due Tuesday June 7th

As part of our Le Robot unit, students are responsible for constructing their own robot at home using scrap or recyclable materials. We are working on the written description in class. Presentations will begin Wednesday June 8th

Students have chosen specific substances that may be abused and have been given research time in class. They are to create pamphlets based on their research to present to the class. They are due in next weeks Health classes
