Grade 6 students have been working hard on their projects. We have completed the peer critiques (see attachments) and each student has been given detailed written feedback from their peers and myself on how to improve their projects over the March Break.
Their projects will be marked with the ASD-N STEM Rubric (see attached). students have self assessed according to this rubric and understand the expectations of this project.

Grade 6 classes will be participating in the Shoeboxes for Soldiers campaign where we collect items and assemble care packages for Canadian Forces personnel overseas during the holiday season. Participation is voluntary, please see attached sheet for further explanantion and a list of preferred items. Thank you for your support.

Students have been given their reserach information for their choice of topic/animal. They are to work at home on the finished product as outlined in my previous post in the project outline. Projects are due Tuesday October 13th.

The grade 6 Science classes have begun the unit Diversity of Life. As an interactive
learning experience they will be travelling to the Moncton Zoo on Friday
October 16th. We will be
leaving at 8:30a.m. from the school and returning by 2 p.m., in time to return
home on the bus. Students are to bring a lunch and a water bottle. Students are
asked to wear clothing appropriate to the day’s weather and to wear sneakers,
as we will be walking for most of the day.

Students are bringing home several forms for parental review; a Welcome Letter from the Superintendent, a review of Threat Assement Policy and bussing arrangements, and a Media Coverage form which needs to be signed and returned to school. Student Profile sheets went home yesterday to be signed and returned ASAP. Cafeteria menus were also sent home.Student fees are $30.Activity periods (2:35-3:10) will begin next week- Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. Students are encouraged to stay and participate then take a bus home on our late run.Please have your child review their agendas with you (we went through them in detail today). There is a lot of important information in there. I will be signing their agendas everyday and encourage you to do the same. They are a great way for home and school to stay in contact.If you have any questions please feel free to send me a note or call me at school. Meet the Teacher is Thursday September 17th at 6pm. Hope to see you then!

The following notice is being sent home with the students....
We are going to La Pays de la Sagouine in Bouctouche for our
year end field trip Wednesday June 3rd. We will be leaving first
thing in the morning and returning in time for afternoon buses home. There is
no charge for students however they must bring their own lunches, snacks and
water bottles. There is a canteen on site if you would like to send money with
your child. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather
and wears walking shoes, and sunscreen. Dr. Losier dress code applies on all
school trips. Students are permitted to bring electronic devices; cameras,
cellphones, IPods etc. at their own risk, as we do not assume any
responsibility for lost or broken items.
Please sign the form and return it with your child as we need written consent for off site visits. Students must have ALL work completed prior to the field trip.

Students will be creating a grafitti board that depicts the multi cultural aspects of either Miramichi, New Brunswick or Canada. Aspects would include images or words that illustrate cultural identity, tradition, practices, beliefs and values. Portions of this assignment will be completed at school and at home. Drafts will be completed at home this week.
