The
Anglophone North School District Education Council will be holding a
public engagement session to discuss the 10-year
education plan. The session will be held on Thursday, October 29, at
Gretna Green Elementary School, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Community members
are encouraged to attend.
We offer a big thank you to Big Brothers/Big Sisters MIramichi for their generous donation to our school breakfast program. We are very pleased that through this donation we will be able to offer a variety of healthy breakfasts to all of our students. Thank you! :)
Students and staff participated in 'Blue Jays Blue Day' on Friday, October 16th, supporting the Toronto Blue Jays on their quest for the American League Championship!
Congratulations to Nadia Hiemstra, winner of the National Young Citizen's Award. Tilly O'Neill - Gordon, MP for Miramichi-Grand Lake, visitied Nadia on Wednesday to congratulate her and wish her all the best on her trip to Ottawa. Pat Lange, a former teacher of Nadia's and contributor to Nadia's research for her winning project, was pleased to congratulate her as well. Nadia is visiting our nation's capital Thursday and Friday. Congratulations!!
The staff and students at Dr. Losier are
thrilled to announce that Mrs. Kierstead has been recognized at the provincial
level for her superb leadership and her commitment to meeting the needs of
every student at Dr, Losier Middle School. Those of us who have worked with
Mrs. Kierstead over the past decade are well aware that her leadership has
been exemplary and we are all delighted to that this has been acknowledged through
this award.

There will be no school for students on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th as all teachers and educational assistants will be involved in professional learning. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 13th following the Thanksgiving weekend.
As in previous years, students at Dr. Losier will be participating in the Shoeboxes for Soldiers campaign where we collect items and assemble care packages for Canadian Forces personnel overseas during the holiday season. Participation is voluntary, altough encouraged as students and staff have found the experience very rewarding! Please see attached sheet for further explanantion and a list of preferred items. All donations are appreciated, even empty shoe boxes. Thank you for your support. Students can bring in items to their homeroom teachers.
