Book Talk Today, we had the book talk. My group seemed to be prepared and we were all on task. Taylor discussed her book, That Fatal Night, and Stephanie did the same but with the novel, Exiles from the War. As for me, I talked about the book Chasing Shadows. I found that our discussion was extremely interesting considering we all had different thoughts. At the first of the discussion, we talked about the affect our books had on us. When Stephanie explained that she had gotten sad when one of the main characters lost her dog, it made me think about when my little dog was gone forever. As I connected with Stephanie’s novel, I couldn’t stop thinking of my old dog, Moushka. Another thing we talked about was predicting when reading. I like to predict things will happen, and usually my guess is confirmed. This strategy helps me comprehend what I am reading by at least 50%! I will use this strategy in every novel I read from now on! In conclusion, the book talk went incredibly well. I learned how other people connect with their books and also what strategies they use to understand their books better. These discussions will most likely help me with my reading too! -- Demi T. Excellent work! Remember to support what you’re saying with examples.
