Mr. Waye Notes

7M Science and DLMS Info

Notes

Hello Knights,

Most people are aware that last Friday, the Premier eased some of the restriction imposed on the province. Some may be wondering how that affects DLMS?  At this time, in the frist phase, there has not been any change for schools.  We are still learning from home and there is no entry into the school for materials.  Once we do have a plan to allow students into the building to collect their personal belonging, Mrs. Cabel and I are planning on having an online townhall meeting to get that information out to the school community and to answer any of your questions.  Please stay tuned.

I ask that everyone, continue to follow 2M physical distancing when you are out in public and for god sakes wash your hands and stop touching your face!

Cheers,

Mr. Waye

Week 1 of Learning From Home is in the books.  I know that we had some bumps in the road getting access to Dreambox and understanding our new set of expectations, but we should ready to roll.  I really enjoyed viewing the posts that families have made with our social media sites and now one on one with classroom teachers.  I encourage everyone to share, it makes us all smile when see how great your products are.  By now, everyone should have been contacted by an anchor.  We will continue to reach out weekly to support families, so please let your anchor know how to best connect with you.  For the students that I have been connecting with I am eager to hear about your Easter bunny stories.  I will be sharing my adventures of getting a haircut from home and our adventure of clipping our dog Odie.

Finally, I want to let all of the Knight community know that you can reach me by email (judson.waye@nbed.nb.ca) or on social media (judson waye - facebook, @judsonwaye on Twitter) if you ever have a question, comment or feedback for the school.

Just an FYI - The staff has some plans cooked up that we are excited to share with you in the near future.

Hello Knights!

During the school closure, all teachers will be posting from their teacher pages to better support each class with learning materials.  The school will have an overaching strategy map to help support everyone. Details will be released on Monday, Arpil 6th.  You can expect that staff will begin to reach out to homes by mid week.

Take care everyone,

Mr. Waye

In your video your group must answer the following questions:

  1. Define the problem - (Demonstrate Erosion)
  2. Describe your solution - (Your design concept)
  3. Explain your challenges - (Whats not working…What you had to change in (re-phase))
  4. What are your next steps…what would change next (to make more efficient)

Today we learned and practiced making graphs for our project.  We did both a bar graph (column) and line graphs as examples.  Later, students had computer lab time to practice making graph in Word using the weather data from last week.

Some students were absent, for anyone that needs the basics of how to create a graph, use this youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCWF-g5POj4

Log onto the Mr.Waye's and open the excel file called - Weather Data

Using this data, create the following graphs. (Use the graph paper that is provided and put your graphs in your assessment folders)

1. Create a line graph for the "temp" for November 1st from 1:00 - 12:00.

2. Create a line graph for the relative humidity "rel hum (%)" between November 2nd at 12:00 and Nov 3rd at 12:00

3. Create a line graph for the "temp" for November 12th (all 24 hours)

If you have created all three of these graphs by hand you have 2 options:

A. In Microsoft Word, create a graph of the three graphs above.  If you have never created a graph on MS Word, you may need to search google or youtube

B. Work to edit the video of your producation of gas project.  Make sure your video is no longer than 2 min and can be embedded in your powerpoint.

Students worked hard in class the last couple of days on creating a digital version of their projects.  We are now finished the planning phase of the project and that power point should be saved to the class USB by end of class on Monday.  Some students have already saved their work to the drive, but others needed a little extra time.  Those students can work at lunch hour and during homework class today.

Students are asked to shoot the video of their experiment over the weekend.  Some students may have commitments, so we will be accpeting the video files until Wednesday.  Students need to save their own video files to their own USB drives so we can add the files to their powerpoint next week.
