Dear parents and students,

I hope you all enjoyed your break. For the next few weeks (from January 11th to 21st)  being online and beyond that still uncertain, DLMS will be running a temporary online schedule. I have already posted my homeroom (7M) schedule on this teacher page and I will also be posting it on their Microsoft Teams Class. Please note the schedule consists of six core subjects in the morning and Physical Wellness/Independent reading in the afternoon.  The schedule has been shortened to six 30 minute classes in the morning with 2 screen breaks, Lunch break and then the afternoon reading and wellness schedule.

For the duration of online learning,  I will be using Microsoft Teams as my teaching platform for all of my classes. Students should have received their online learning schedule and will be required to join in on a class call with me during their scheduled class. The call invitation will be sent to students through Teams and they will be able to find it through their Class Team and/or their Teams Calendar. As for work in class and assignments, they will be distributed through the Assignments tab in their Class Team. Students will also be able to submit their work in the same Assignments tab. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca

Thanks,

Mr. Martin

Bonjour les ami(e)s,

Again, I would like to thank everyone that has sent me your assignment. If you are not done, that should be the priority. I will still be accepting them and helping with corrections if you need me to.

As I mentioned last week, if you are done, you can work on a second informational poster or magazine page. You can also chose to add on to your previous one. For example, you can add an additional page of information and pictures to you assigment.

Attached below is also a document containing French activities that you can do through the next week.

Have a great week,

Mr. Martin

Bonjour les ami(e)s!

I would like thank everyone who has been sending me their drafts and good copies of their historical event / biography project. I really enjoy seeing what you have created! If you haven't completed this assignment yet, you can continue to work on it and send it to me by email if you can. If you are done and really enjoyed this project, you can always do a second one with a different topic since you are now much more familiar with the process of making a poster or a magazine page.

Attached below are more oral, reading and writing activities that allow you to practice your French.

Have a great week and enjoy the nice weather,

Mr. Martin

Bonjour les ami(e)s,

For week seven, you can continue to work on your good copy of your historical event / biography project. You can still send me your draft by email if you would like me to go over it. I would love to see which event or person you chose and how you decided to represent your information. You can send me you project by email at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca

I have also attached two documents containing French oral, reading and writing activities. Please feel free to check them out. Also, please note that the grades levels can be found on top of the page.

Passez une belle semaine,

Mr. Martin

Bonjour,

Over the course of the next week or two, I want to give you an opportunity to work on a more social studies focused research project. Always in French of course :) . The project theme would be to research a historical event or a person of your interest.

The project idea is to publish 1 page, this could look like a poster or a page in a magazine for example. Some guidelines to follow this project are the following; atleast 5 sentences that provide a description of your choice, 3-5 facts and images.

I decided to choose a historical event and to publish it as a poster. Attached below will be the model I made on www.canva.com. (All of my grade 7 students should have a canva account. Some grade 6 students may also have one. If not, it is free to make an account if you are a student.) Howeverm you do not have to make the project on Canva, but it is a great website to create pages/projects like this. You can use Word or even make it by hand. That said, if you decided to chose a person instead of an event, you can still follow the same model. I will also attach a more detailed guide to help you with the project so please check this document as well.

Once you have finished your draft, you can send in your paragraph to me by email (zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca) if you would like for me to go over it and give you some feedback before you move on to the good copy.

Also, if you would like to keep practicing your other French skills on top of this project, please feel free to go back and check the choice boards on the previous posts.

Have a great week!

Mr. Martin

Bonjour les amis,

Thank you to everyone that has been sending me emails, work and videos, I really enjoy hearing from you! :)

Attached below is another choice board with a few different topics for the week. For the ones that decided to work on the options project "life of my pet", you can still work on that as well. If you didn't want to work on the options project last week but would like to start it this week, you can still do so.

I have also attached a document provided by the district's FSL leads called "mon voisinage". These are more great activities that allow you to practice your French skills. Please note that this document has been divided in to three sections (early elementary, middle elementary and middle school).

Keep in mind that you do not have to finish all of these tasks and activities. They are simply options that provide great learning opportunities.

Have a great week,

Mr. Martin

Bonjour,

With being in our 4th week, some of you may want to start or continue working on some French :)

Here are the at home suggestions I have that would be able to help work on your french skills;

https://www.duolingo.com/course/fr/en/Learn-French (this is a great site that allows you to work on your speaking and listening skills)

https://fr.lyricstraining.com/fr/ (this is the french music website that we would use in class, this also works on your listening skills)

- Watch a tv show, movie that you like (on Netflix or Disney+ for example) or even a youtube video in French. You can put on the subtitles in order to help you see the words as well. The goal is not understand every single thing but the gist of what has been said (by also using the visuals to help). It may be a good idea to start by only watching 10-20 minutes at a time and not want to watch the entire show or movie so you do not overwhelm yourself.

- Try to talk in French with a family member or classmate (perhaps on the phone) if possible.

These may seem difficult and challenging at first, but remember what I would say in the classroom. The only way to learn and acquire a new language is to be exposed to it and to practice using it. :)

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca

Mr. Martin

Hi everyone,

This weeks activities will be very similar to the last. Attached below is a document containing the same type of choice boards as last week but with a few differences. Again, you can choose to do the ones you want throughout the week.

Attached below will also be an option project , where if you choose to do this project, you do not have to do the activities on the choice board. This project will allow you to practice your speaking skills {since it should be done in French :) } and also your tech and editing skills. If you are a beginner with tech and editing, there are many helpful Youtube videos out there. I suggest atleast checking out the project document to see if it is something that would interest you.

Please feel free to contact me at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca if you have any questions

PS: I would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Stewart since this great project was her idea :)

Bonjour les ami(e)s!

Comment ça va?

We are now entering week three of our Learning From Home program and hopefully everything has been going well for you. That being said, some of you may want to start working on some French :)

Bonjour les ami(e)s!

Here are some learning activities for week three. Students have the choice of choosing an oral, reading and writing activity for each day from a list provided below. You can choose to do the same activity multiple times through the week. Also, keep in mind that you do not need to do/complete all of the activities, they are simply suggestions to allow you to practice your French skills.

Please feel free to send me an email, zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca, if you have any questions or you would like feedback on something. I wouid also enjoy seeing some of your videos if you decide to film one and are able to find a way to send it to me. :)

Passez une belle semaine,    Have a good week,

Mr. Martin

Hi everyone,

Attached below is a document containing different French activities that can be completed throughout the week. All of the activities on this list do not need to be completed. There are some of the same links/activities as last week but there is also a few new ones that have been added. For the online article links, there are multiple readings per link and you can chose to read whichever you would like.

If you have any issues or questions, feel free to contact me at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca.

Have a good week and stay safe.

Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to start by saying that I hope all of you are doing well. We are already starting our 4th week without being in school and I miss you all very much.

As of today, April 6th, we will be beginning our “Learning From Home” option in order to allow our students to continue their learning. However, both parents and students, there is no need to stress. We will be starting out slow since we do not want to overwhelm anyone.

Along with this message on my teacher page, I will be placing a document that will contain suggestions of different FILA and Social Studies tasks students can do throughout this first week. In the weeks to come, my plan is to post a message and content every Monday.

If any parent or student has any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at zachary.martin@nbed.nb.ca. I would be more than happy to help. :)

Mr. Martin
