Notes

Posted: January 10, 2022

As you have heard, for the next two weeks, school learning will be online. DLMS will be running a temporary online schedule. The schedule is posted on this teacher page and also on the Microsoft Teams Class (the DEN). Please note the schedule will be personalized for each member of the DEN but in general it consists of six core subjects in the morning and Physical Wellness/Independent reading in the afternoon.  The schedule has been shortened to six 30 minute classes in the morning with 2 screen breaks, Lunch break and then the afternoon reading and wellness schedule.

For the duration of online learning,  we will be using Microsoft Teams for the instruction delivery of Humanities and Math assistance/help through the Teams chat.   Students should have received their online learning schedule and will be required to join in on a class call with me during their scheduled class. The call invitation will be sent to students through Teams as well as an email and they will be able to find it through their Class Team and/or their Teams Calendar. As for work in class and assignments, they will be distributed through the Assignments tab in their Class Team. Students will also be able to submit their work in the same Assignments tab. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at kimberly.gilks@nbed.nb.ca

Hello to the DEN,

We will be learning from home beginning Monday Nov. 1st. Check-in to the team site (as we do every morning) and all classroom work will be uploaded to your class notebook.  We will be using the team site until further notice.  You will have received an email with our class meeting time so please log in with your student email and password.  We will watch our news show together at 9:30.  Looking forward to speaking with you all!

Hello all,

This is a quick note to say hello!  It has been a long time since I have seen any of you.  I cannot believe that I have not been back to the school and the DLMS family since Feb. 28th!  It definitely has been a challenging time as I have been socially responsible and physically distancing from the many older people that I have in my life as I'm sure you all have done too.  I hope everyone is healthy and happy!

I will be making a few phone calls this week but if you don't hear from me and wish to talk, please send me an email at kimberly.gilks@nbed.nb.ca and I will reach out to you.  I will be posting a "Gilks' Guide to resources" newsletter every Wednesday on my teacher page and possibly the learning from home tab, with a few helpful tips and resources for you and your guardians to explore.

If you need to reach a counsellor, please see the hotline list below that opened April 2nd at 1-506-626-3257. And remember the kidshelpline 1-800-668-6868 is always available.

Enjoy this opportunity to connect with family and friends online, and keep yourself well.

ASD-N To Launch Tele-Guidance Counselling Service For Students

ASD-N To Launch Tele-Guidance Counselling

Effective Thursday, April 2, 2020

As a school district, ASD-N recognizes that our students may be having a difficult time adjusting to the effects and changes related to COVID-19.  This is a serious situation, one we have never faced before, and students may have questions or need help processing all that is happening in their lives right now.  Or maybe students are missing their school resource supports, or are struggling with not having their daily school routine.

ASD-N wants to provide support to our students, and offer access to our Educational Support Services team. This means that students or their parents who reach out through our district phone numbers (listed below by area) will be able totalk to district personnel, and set up an appointment to talk with their own school guidance counsellors, if necessary.

Students who would like to speak with district guidance staff should contact the number for their particular region, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
