Mini-research project - Take a picture of the notes you have taken (10 - 20 notes) and post it to teams (Projet de recherche - mini projet de patrimoine - Faire des notes). Due Wednesday.

Bonjour tout le monde, 

I have made corrections to the paragraphs that were submitted up to this point. If for some reason I have missed yours (sorry) please send me an e-mail or just re-submit through Teams. For any students who have not yet submitted their draft paragraph for corrections, pleas know you can still submit it and I will definately correct it and send it back. I highly encourage you to do so as it is not just a chance to do some writing, but it is also a great opportunity to become more accustomed to microsoft Teams. I know I've learned a lot in the past few weeks.

For students who have had their paragraphs corrected, you can now submit your final good copy through teams. It is a second assignment labeled 'Fiche historique - la bonne copie'. You can also e'mail it to me.

Please continue (or start) to work on the Historical Paragraph project that I assigned last week. Just scroll down to see the the project's outline under 'Learning From Home FILA Week Six'. 

Also, please try and submit your final draft through Microsoft Teams. There are instructions below on how to do this. On Teams just hit the assignment tab and you will see Fiche historique - Sciences humaines. You can submit as many documents as you want at different times, so submit the draft of your paragraph sometime this week and then the final copy next week. Just remember, you have to upload your document then hit submit. You should see a funny animation showing you submited somehting.

If you are not able to access Teams, you can still e-mail your work to me. 

Lastly, I have attached the PDF Les Metiers that provides some activities you can do at home. There are 3 pages in the PDF, one for early elementary, late elementary and middle school.

The next two weeks we will be working on a small historical research project. The goal is to research an historical event or a person and produce a brief article that provides a short paragraph and a few facts about your topic and that is visually appealing. I would like students to research a topic that is of interest to them, so find something you would like to learn more about or something that is important to you and go for it. 

Personally, I saw in the news a few weeks ago that a new Heritage Minute was produced celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands, an event in which Canada played a large role. This inspired my decision to research other battles Canada fought throughout the Second World War and eventually I decided to do my historical article on J-jour: la plage Juno.

I have created an exemplar for students to see the finished project. 

Basic Outline:

Just One Paragraph (5-7 sentences)

3-5 facts (point form)

Publish 1 page (not 5 different powerpoint slides ) however you like, just make it visually interesting (Use computer, Draw by hand and take a picture, etc...) 

Week 1 : I am asking students to research and write the draft copy of the paragraph for this article. There is a guide (Historical Paragraph - Guide) attached for students to follow on how to research and write/revise/correct a paragraph.  

As outlined in the guide, I would like students to submit the finished draft of just their paragraph so that we can make corrections and provide feedback. You can send a word document, just copy and paste to the e-mail directly or take a photo with your phone of your handwritten work. Whatever works for you.

I will provide further details on how we might collect the published copies at a later date.    

This weeks learning activities are here. As a guideline, students should be reading about 20 minutes a day and spending 20-30 minutes on speaking/listening and writing activities. What we provide each week are some ideas of what you can do, but please remember you do not have to complete everything in the activity guides.

I have attached this weeks learning activities. You do not need to complete everything on the list. You can also look back to week one's activities and do some of those instead. 

I have also attached a list of French websites that you might find useful when looking for ways to read/listen/watch in French. Thank you Mr. Martin for making the list.

If you like, please visit Mrs. Stewart's page where she is putting up some short videos in French. 

I have added two links to new articles and I have left the links to the previous weeks' articles as well. In general, the articles from 'Nos nouvelles' are intended for grade 6 early and grade 6/7 late immersion, while the articles from 'Monde en marche' are for 7/8 early and 8 late immersion. However, feel free to read any and all if you are able. If grade 6 late students find the questions somewhat difficult that is understandable. Once again, the goal is experience some reading in French. This is not a test and it does not need to be handed in. 

Also, I am happy to see students e-mailing me what they have completed. You are welcome to continue doing so, however the intention of the learning activities is provide some way for you to continue practicing French at home. I do not need to see that you have completed them, you are welcome to simply complete the activities and perhaps share what you have done with your parents/guardians at this time. Yet, if you still wish to e-mail me what you have completed you are welcome to. If we get to the point where we might like to have something handed in we will let you know.

There is a boys JV soccer game Friday October 20 here at the Dr. Losier Field. The game begins at 4.

Also, the Boys JV soccer jamboree will be held next Friday, October 27 at Miramichi Rural School. The games begin at 12:00. The tournament information is attached below.

We have games scheduled for the following times:

3:00

5:00 (Finals for the top 2 teams).

All students are responsible to get transportation to and from the field and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian between matches.
