8S and 8R:  On Friday we read chapter 7, so if you were absent, please read this on your own.

8M: We have read up to the end of part two of the book.  There is no reading homework over the weekend.  Please start thinking about your final project.

Today we finished reading chapter 5 of the book and began an analysis of the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay", which is a very important poem within the novel.  Tomorrow we will continue our discussion of the poem and begin reading chapter 6.

Today we read chapters 51-54 in class and Mr.Pugh delivered a mini-lesson on how to properly answer short-answer reading comprehension questions.  Students were given some questions to answer with a rubric which will be used to assess their ability to do this skill.  They will have class time tomorrow to work on the questions as well.

Please read chapters 39-43 (pages 155-172) for Monday.  If you did not finish the Flashback excercise, please do so for Monday.  Articles of the Week are due Monday as well.

This week, students in 8R and 8S engaged in a mini-lesson on how to properly answer reading comprehesion questions properly.  They glued the attached notice in their writers notebooks.
